Default Win

This guide explains the Default Win capability, which lets your fund win new default-fund relationships at the moment of decision - when employers are picking their default super fund through a partner platform.

About Default Win

Default Win presents your fund as a candidate when an employer is choosing a default super fund through the employer embed. This typically happens when the employer is a new business setting a default for the first time, or when an existing employer is changing their default fund. If the employer picks your fund, your fund becomes their new default and you receive their details for onboarding and outreach.

Default Win enables your fund to:

  1. Reach employers who are actively choosing a default super fund.
  2. Customise the marketing material shown at the point of decision to make a stronger pitch.
  3. Collect employer details at the point of confirmation that support onboarding and ongoing outreach.

WARNING

Default Win can only be used with a MySuper product, as employer default funds must always be a MySuper product.

INFO

Looking to keep existing employer default relationships? See Default Activate.

What you need to provide

Unlike Default Activate, Default Win does not require an employer list or a lookup API. The fund does not match against any prior data - SuperAPI presents your fund automatically when it is a relevant option for the employer.

What you do supply:

  • MySuper status - confirmed with us during project setup.
  • Marketing material for the point of decision (see below).
  • A delivery method for the employer details collected at confirmation (see below).

Customising the marketing material

When your fund is presented as a Default Win candidate, you can supply marketing material tailored to that moment - copy, imagery, and any supporting collateral that pitches your fund to an employer choosing a default for the first time or moving to a new one.

The same option is available on Default Activate, so you can present different material to employers being retained versus employers being won. Supply your marketing material as part of project setup and our design team will configure it in the embed.

High-level flow

Details collected from the employer at confirmation

Before the employer locks in your fund as their default, the embed can ask them for additional information that supports your ongoing outreach. The fields are configurable per fund. Common choices include:

  • Industry or industry classification
  • Number of employees
  • Primary contact name
  • Primary contact email
  • Primary contact phone number
  • Best time to contact
  • Any custom questions you want to ask

INFO

This is likely the same set of fields you collect via Default Activate, though the two can be configured independently.

How collected details are delivered to your fund

The employer details captured at confirmation can be delivered to your fund in one of two ways:

  • By SFTP - delivered as a periodic file to an account we provision for you.
  • By API call - posted to an endpoint you expose. This is a separate endpoint from any member lookup you may have built for Retain.

We agree the delivery method with you during project setup. You only need to support one.
