VEVO checks

Confirm every new starter has the right to work in Australia before their first shift. Employees who aren't Australian citizens consent to a check with the Department of Home Affairs Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) service, and Australian citizens upload proof of citizenship instead.

Features

  • VEVO checks for New Zealand and other citizens, using a passport or, where the employee has none, an ImmiCard, Convention Travel Document, DFTTA or PLO56 evidence card.
  • Explicit consent is collected before a check runs, with the time of consent recorded for audit purposes.
  • Returns the outcome of the check (unlimited, limited or no work rights) along with the visa details, its conditions and the VEVO result as a PDF.
  • Australian citizens upload an Australian passport, or a birth or citizenship certificate with photo ID, for the employer to review.
  • The onboarding session waits in pending_completion until the check has a result, so onboarding_session_completed only fires once work rights are known.
  • Enabled per onboarding session with the work_rights_check field on the onboarding session intent. Only VEVO checks are charged, document uploads are free.
